HI HELLO HOW ARE YA? This is post dated, just FYI
:) Hey friends! Hope everyone is doing well. Welcome back to MooreHappyVibes. I've been away from my house all weekend celebrating one of my very best friend's marriage-- and it was just such a beautiful and FUN time. She's an amazing person and so is her, now husband, and the two of them were both so easy to celebrate. I think it's funny because, the topic that I planned on writing about this evening was LOVE, and I'll get to why I thought of the topic in a second, but I just thought it was ironic that I felt compelled to write about it around the same time I happened to be in a wedding. SoOooOOo, I was eating dinner with a really good friend in AA the other night and we touched on the topic of LOVE. He has a hard time saying the phrase "i love you" because he feels like people "over use it" and just "throw it around" and it doesn't really mean anything when you say it, so then I asked him, "Well, what does love mean to you?" and so it got me to thinking... What actually IS love, and so I decided to dedicate this post to love, because it's the day after Valentine’s day, which in my opinion is a holiday that has been over commercialized and quite frankly a lazy way to celebrate love, because I think love should be celebrated 365 days a year, and not just one day on the calendar when we all get dressed up and exchange our gifts. So anyways what a better way to celebrate? Am I RIGHT??? lol.
So this is a list of all of the things that I define as "love" To me, love isn’t just a feeling, Love is action. When you love someone it should be limitless and unconditional, meaning, there might be days when you don’t necessarily like what someone does or says, but you always love them. Love is friendship, being there for your friend, showing up when they need you, listening when they need an ear 👂, lending a shoulder to cry on, and cracking jokes and making one another laugh through joy and sorrow. Love is knowing when to be quiet and back down and just let it be what it is. Love is making time, when you love someone, you don’t make up the excuse “ I don’t have time”, bc love is sacrificing time, And we all know, time is one thing in this world we cannot get back. Love is commitment through all of life’s ups and downs, it’s sticking it through with someone even when you want to duck out. Not just throwing the towel in when things get rough. Love is a smile, kindness, a breath of fresh air, doing things for someone in spite of yourself, because love is selfless. It’s a father sacrificing everything so his children can have everything (thank you daddy). It’s a mother taking the time to teach her children right from wrong (thank you momma). It’s your sister listening to you cry for the 5828th time about being single AGAIN on Valentine’s Day (thank you Shinah). Its the sister who dishes out that tough love and pep talk when you start to feel sorry for yourself (Thank you Cally) It’s maintaining friendships through the margins of distance, space, and time (thank you Paige, Jordan, Kelsey, and Katelyn), love isn’t always easy sometimes it’s tough like not taking bullshit and helping someone remember who they really are. It’s remembering and paying attention, being observant (Im working on this aspect of love). It’s those friends who know how truly weird you are and they love you for who you are (Thank you Brad, Ashley, and Allison) It’s kisses from your godson, and deep belly laughs he gives when you sniff his “stinky feet” over and over. (Thank you Luke) It’s a good morning, a good night, a how are you? It’s the hand of God in your life. It is how we should treat one another, because it’s the only thing that matters at the end of the day. It doesn’t see color, political stance, bank account. It doesn’t pass judgement, it’s too busy being accepting and at peace. It is what we all deserve to have in a lifetime. Love is expressive, it’s shouting it at the roof tops or whispering it quietly. It’s not afraid to be known. And though I spent another Valentine’s Day alone there is one thing I know for certain, there is not a day in My life that goes by where i am short on love. I’ll leave you with this quote from one of my favorite movies of all time, LOVE ACTUALLY, and then you can go back to eating your Valentine’s candy: “ When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.” So here’s to love, may you know it and may you live it 365 days of the year. ❤️ Happy Belated Valentine’s
until next time,
xoxo Mishako
