Happy New Year Everyone!
It’s my first post of 2021, how exciting is that? I was thinking about how everyone loves to set New Years resolutions, and where I love the idea of the whole “new year, new me” trend. I used to jump on that band wagon until I learned the “one day at a time” concept from AA and realized, that for me, starting each day anew is what works best for me.
However, this year I feel a little different. I feel like that mentality has made it easy for me to make excuses for my lack of consistency in carrying out my plan or reaching goals Ive set for myself.
So I’m going to jump on the band wagon this year and give you all a list of resolutions that I have thought long and hard about, that I intend to stick with no matter what this year, or any thereafter may bring.
Strive harder to find the silver lining. I tend to be a bit of a negative Nancy, pity Polly, and sad Susie when it comes to life not going the way I intended it to, so when things happen that less than suck, I’m going to try to always find a silver lining, no matter how high in the suck category it falls.
Be grateful, be grateful, be grateful, more gratitude less bad attitude. It’s hard to be unhappy when you’re always able to see the things in your life that you should be giving thanks for. This is what life is about. We are all blessed, some of us just have a harder time seeing it than others, relatively speaking by the way, as we see life relative to our own experience.
Take care of myself first: my mind, my body, and most importantly my spirit. I have a tendency to forget this one. I let other things take precedence, but it’s important to take care of yourself so you’re not trying to serve others from an empty cup.
Spread love and joy. I mean who couldn’t use a little more happiness and joy in their life ? I love smiling and being kind to people, and it doesn’t cost them or me anything at all. It’s my super power.
CONSISTENCY. In anything I set my mind to. If I can quit alcohol and drugs consistently for 9 years, by golly I better be able to stick to anything else to, and that’s on God. So my workout routine is first bc who doesn’t love a good morning workout? And luckily for me I started it 3 weeks before the new year, so it’s already a part of my routine.
Stop talking so negatively to myself. Man I beat myself up all the time. I am the worst when it comes to telling myself I’m not enough and so my feelings about myself follow suit. I love
Spend more time with family and friends. If this past year has taught me anything, it’s that life is too short and we should cherish the ones we have while we have them.
Travel. At least to one really cool place. I want to celebrate my 10 years of sobriety doing something I love -HIKING — to an insanely beautiful scenery. I’m a sucker for that.
Cut out people places and things that do not bring positive vibes to my life, be that on the internet or in real life, if the focus isn’t on positivity and moving upward and onward and all it is about is drama... then adiós.
Be a big girl!! Learn to live on my own, budget, do girl things, it’s about time right ??
Hopefully figure out how to edit videos and do more vlogs, create more content, put more energy into making this my baby and being more consistent in my writing so I’m not taking days off since this is so important to me, I should treat it that way!!
And last but certainly not least— LEARN TO ROLLER SKATE LIKE A ROLLER SKATE QUEEN!!
I think that’s all I have for now. What are some of your resolutions? Do you have things you want to give up? Want to start a new routine ?
I am so grateful we made it through 2020, and I’m hopeful for really good things in the new year! God bless you all! Until next week!!
xoxo
